What is the population of Merzouga?

Only a few hundred to around a thousand people live in Merzouga village year-round, most working in tourism or date farming.

The population swells daily with travellers and seasonal workers during high season. Most local families have lived here for generations and many camp teams — including ours — grew up among these dunes.
