FAQ · Location & Basics

How big is Merzouga? Is it a town or a village?

Merzouga is a small village of a few hundred permanent residents strung along the dune edge, with the hamlet of Hassi Labied just to the north.

Expect one main street with cafés, small shops and hotels rather than a town centre. The modest size is part of the charm — within minutes you are out of the village and alone with the sand.
