How far is Merzouga from Fes?
About 460 km — a 7–8 hour drive via Midelt and the Ziz Valley.
It is the shorter of the two classic approaches and can be done in a single long day. The final stretch through the Ziz Valley’s palm-filled canyon is a highlight in itself.
