What is Lake Dayet Srji and can I see flamingos there?

It is a seasonal salt lake just west of Merzouga that fills after rains (mostly winter–spring) and then draws flamingos and dozens of other migratory birds.

In a wet year the sight of pink flamingos against orange dunes is gloriously surreal. The lake can be bone dry by summer — ask the camp about current water levels before pinning hopes on it.
