Are the camps actually located in the dunes?

Camps line the edge of the dune field (regulations keep them out of the deep erg), so you sleep with sand at your door and the big dunes rising behind.

From your tent terrace the sand begins immediately — the placement rules simply protect the heart of the erg. At Sundrift, the sunrise dune is a five-minute barefoot walk from bed.
